Redefining and Analyzing the problem Generating ideas Evaluating and Selecting ideas Implementing ideas The Deming Cycle consists of Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) cycle and the center of these activities is customer satisfaction.
PDSA provides a basic framework for process improvement. The Plan stage analyzes the current processes in terms of inputs, outputs, customers and suppliers. The Do stage has a pilot program for testing and evaluation, which is equal to the evaluation stage of common themes.
The Study stage examines the result of the pilot study, and the decision made for further analyses or full implementation. The Study stage is overlapping the evaluation and implementing ideas of common themes.
The Act stage selects the best solution and finalizes the implementation details, which is equal to the implementation ideas phase of everyday issues. The DMAIC stands for Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. The Define & Measure is the same as Redefining and Analyzing the problem. The Analyze is the same as Generating Ideas. Improve is the same as Evaluating and Selecting ideas. Control is the same as Implementing Ideas.
